Design Concept.
Located in Bangalore, Proxy is conceived as a tropical terrace restobar where fluidity and playfulness define the spatial experience. The design balances organic warmth with contemporary edge, creating a setting that feels both relaxed and theatrically expressive. Every element contributes to a narrative of movement, lightness, and social energy.
Dynamic Ceiling.
The sculptural ceiling becomes the project’s signature element. Undulating wooden ribbons sweep across the expanse, introducing rhythm and motion overhead. Integrated pendant lights and cascading greens soften the geometry, casting layered shadows that shift from day to night, transforming the atmosphere as the light evolves.
Central Bar.
At the heart of Proxy lies a circular bar that acts as the gravitational core of the space. Elevated and visually dominant, it organizes circulation and seating around it. Suspended greenery and concentric lighting elements reinforce its centrality, turning the bar into both a functional hub and a visual spectacle.
Play of Color.
The intentional contrast between deep blue lounge seating and bold red bar stools injects vibrancy into the otherwise earthy palette. This chromatic interplay creates visual tension and energy, enhancing the restobar’s lively character while maintaining cohesion through warm timber and muted flooring tones.
Continuity.
Framed by expansive terrace openings, the design embraces Bangalore’s skyline. Planters and hanging foliage blur the boundary between built form and landscape, allowing the city view to become part of the interior composition. The transition from sunset to nightfall becomes a curated experiential layer.
Material Palette.
Natural wood, patterned flooring, terrazzo finishes, and soft upholstery work in harmony to create tactile richness. The layered textures—smooth stone, woven cane, velvet fabrics, and suspended greens—establish depth while ensuring durability suited to a high-energy hospitality environment.
Light as Narrative.
Lighting at PROXY is both functional and atmospheric. Warm pendant globes, concealed strip lighting around the bar, and the illuminated ceiling rings create a multi-tiered glow. This orchestrated lighting strategy amplifies the whimsical tropical mood, crafting an enchanting ambience that evolves seamlessly from casual evenings to vibrant nightlife.
